Episode 93 - Campcast and a Review of the Expendables 3

We just got back from another camping trip to Agawa Bay at Lake Superior Provincial Park.

This is probably our last camping trip of the year, as Jon starts school on Tuesday and I start teaching the following Monday.  So, we thought why not talk about the Expendables 3, which Jon recently saw with Isabelle.

Oh I think we all know what he gave it out of five......

Episode 90 - Jon Reviews Guardians of the Galaxy

We went to Guardians of the Galaxy today and here is Jon's review.  I will say this is the best thing the two of us have seen since Captain Phillips.

Episode 88 - Jon Reviews Tammy

So, we started out on our way to the store and it seemed only logical to do a podcast.  This is our first one of the summer, and we have not done one in a while, so we may be rusty...

I've not heard great things, let's leave it at that shall we?....

I've not heard great things, let's leave it at that shall we?....

On our walk Jon decided he should review Tammy.  He just saw it yesterday with Jonathan Carnaroli, who is a cool guy that does stuff with Jon.  Jon calls him 'JC'.   Indeed he seems to have a little nickname for everyone.  We ran into a few kids Jon knows as we walked and Jon would say 'Hi For' for Forrest, for example.

Anyway, I typed all of that to avoid typing about this movie.  I heard it was horrible.  Now Jon, on the other hand, loved it.  It had laughs, and car crashes and such, so I guess that is not surprising.

Sorry for the blurriness.  This is actually a pretty damned moving thing to see at the side of the road.

Sorry for the blurriness.  This is actually a pretty damned moving thing to see at the side of the road.

We saw a memorial to a kid who was killed by a drunk driver about 10 years ago and looked at it for a bit.  The memorial has been maintained by the kid's friends, so that was, while a bit of a downer of sorts, a decent deprive from talking about this horrible movie......

Don't forget to check out Jon's Youtube videos.

Episode 86 - Jon Reviews 22 Jump Street

Jon went to see a movie over the weekend, 22 Jump Street.  Indeed, when we finished recording this episode on the way to school one of the kids at Jon's school said 'I saw you at the movies yesterday'.  This should tell you that the movie is big with the key 13 year old demographic.  (The girl who saw it said she liked it too).

So of course, Jon gave his standard review and rated it out of five.  You'll have to listen in to find out his rating, but if any of his previous ratings can be used as a guide, you probably know what he gave it.

Episode 81 - Jon Reviews The Amazing Spiderman 2

Over the weekend Jon, Isabelle and I saw the Amazing Spiderman 2.  Jon really liked it a lot.  Indeed, after we came out of the theatre he said 'Well, that was exciting'.  Isabelle was less impressed with the movie......

I would give it 2.5/5 meaning it just passed.  Listen in to hear what Jon gave it.

We also ran into Maddie who was waiting for the bus on her way to work, so we briefly spoke to her.

Episode 74 - Jon Reviews Non Stop

Well it is the March Break, so Jon is home for the week.  The consequence is that this one was recorded while I was waiting for my sausages to cook....

Anyway, Jon reviews Non Stop in this one.  You know, Taken on a plane...

Episode 73 - Jon Reviews RoboCop

Unknown-1.jpeg

Over the weekend I was away in London, but Jon was busy seeing movies, well a movie, for his audience, that is what your high end podcasters do.  (We have to get this kid to give a pod camp session some day about engaging your audience with My Little Pony stores and movie reviews).

Anyway, he liked it.  Listen in and find out how much.  Special shout outs on this episode to Landon, Logan and Aidan and to a guy who loves where RoboCop takes place, Bobby Russon.

Episode 72 - Jon Reviews Winter's Tale

So Jon went to see 'Winter's Tale' this weekend.  Critics have panned it, not Jon, but to find out what he gave it, you have to listen in.

Episode 68 - Jon Reviews Jack Ryan

So we just got back from Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit (actually we are still
In the car, and I am posting this with my phone...) and we recorded as soon as we came out.

Jon loved it, giving it a 5 out of 5. I liked it a lot going with a 4 out of 5.

Jon also has an MLP idea with Liam Neeson, I will leave that where it is.....

Episode 67 - Jon Reviews Frozen

So Jon went to see 'Frozen' which is appropriate, as it was -25 on our walk to school.  Jon gave it his review, which was 1/5, he did not like the sad bits.

We also talked about movie ideas, MLP and other Jon related items.

After we stopped recording Jon asked for the closing song.

Episode 64 - Jon Reviews Anchorman 2

Yup, we saw Anchorman 2 The Legend Continues, or whatever it is called.....

Yup, we saw Anchorman 2 The Legend Continues, or whatever it is called.....

So, tonight Jon, Isabelle and I went to see Anchorman 2.  We had a pretty good time actually, and Jon gives his review.  You can guess what it is, but, you might be surprised.  I give it a 3.5, you will have to listen in to hear what Jonathan gave it.

We also talked a bit about some of Jon's movie ideas and about the almost over Christmas break.  See you all from one of our walks to school next week.

Episode 61 - Jon Reviews Hunger Games Catching Fire for Canadian National Day of Podcasting

Jon, the Scarborough Dude and I went to see Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

So what do you think Jon gave it out of five?

So what do you think Jon gave it out of five?

Jon of course has his review, but I would give it 3.5.  Dude gives it 3.8

We talked a bit about other stuff as well, such as what Jon likes about podcasting and how much fun he has doing them.

Episode 59 - Jon Reviews Ender's Game

Hard to beat Harrison Ford in anything....

Hard to beat Harrison Ford in anything....

Jon and I went to see Ender's Game on the weekend and had a pretty good time.  I am writing this before we record but I am going to go out on a limb and say he gives in 3/5.  I would give it a 3.5 myself.

Jon of course talked about the previews we saw, including 47 Ronin, I Frankenstein and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

We then talked about some odd MLP stories that he is working on.

One day I will get him to not give a movie 3 out of 5, I swear.

Episode 50 - Jon Reviews Captain Phillips

Today Jon and I went to see Captain Phillips.  Wow.

Yesterday we tried to go see Rush, but the audio was screwed up and we could not hear the voices.  Thankfully the folks at Galaxy Cinema made it right, refunded our money and also gave us passes for another movie, so as mentioned, today we saw Captain Phillips.

Now, I would give it 4.24/5 I think.  Jon, of course, gave it 3/5, laughingly.

We then recorded some stuff on the bus, the packed bus where we had to wait a while to sit down.  Anyway, we had a great time today, and Jon and I hope you like this episode.
