Episode 146 - Windshield Wiper Acceptance

We didn't do a grocery cast last week as things were hectic, but in a good way.

But, today we needed a new windshield wiper!  So, why not record.  Isabelle installed it and she is now officially I think a mechanic, so for your automotive questions ask Isabelle.....

We recounted our experience with our 1970s Christmas Eve dinner, which included pineapple glazed ham, aspic, Buffalo wings and chocolate fondue.  (Each year on Christmas Eve we make a meal where each of us cooks something).  The aspic was more a prop really.

Canned vegetables?  Who buys them?  Why do they buy them?

Oh then we heard a guy yell like me.

Episode 145 - Heathens With Biblical Names

So we had a snow day.  Holy crap did we have a snow day.  Really it was a snow couple of days, though only one day involved the city shutting down.  Snow is common here but not snow days.  To put it in some perspective we have lived here, on and off for 14 years.  We've had one snow day.

If you'd like to see a video of the storm, here's one.

So we got 55 cm of snow over a couple of days, and that wasn't really the issue as much as the wind which caused severe drifting.

Isabelle spent the week in Jon's classes, shadowing him.  It was exhausting.

Remember those grants Isabelle wrote back in the summer?  Well, one of them came through.

Have you ever noticed that nobody is named 'Jesus' in English?  It is common in Spanish.  I wonder why not in English, or French for that matter.

Episode 144 - Christmas Tree Special!

It is that time of year.

The time when we go get a Christmas tree during a blizzard and strap it to our car.  But, not this time!  No, this time we put it in the back, I mean we have an SUV, why in Christ haven't we thought of this before? It's a Christmas miracle!

We talked a little about a couple of other things during the episode too.

Amazon video is in Canada.

Isabelle is doing cool projects with Jon's class.

Plus, we can fit a Christmas tree in our car!
