Episode 147 - Velorutions for Jesus

Hey, my Mom is here!  So, she joined us in the grocery cast which is pretty great.

On the way to the store we talked about Christmas lights.  What the hell is the deal with people overdoing Christmas lights?  Mom said that there is a guy in London who has a pretty ridiculous setup.  It turns out that there are even competitions about Christmas lights.

Isabelle got a special edition of Life magazine about Bob Dylan.

What's the deal on Jews for Jesus?  Rachel?  Anyone?

Episode 146 - Windshield Wiper Acceptance

We didn't do a grocery cast last week as things were hectic, but in a good way.

But, today we needed a new windshield wiper!  So, why not record.  Isabelle installed it and she is now officially I think a mechanic, so for your automotive questions ask Isabelle.....

We recounted our experience with our 1970s Christmas Eve dinner, which included pineapple glazed ham, aspic, Buffalo wings and chocolate fondue.  (Each year on Christmas Eve we make a meal where each of us cooks something).  The aspic was more a prop really.

Canned vegetables?  Who buys them?  Why do they buy them?

Oh then we heard a guy yell like me.

Episode 145 - Heathens With Biblical Names

So we had a snow day.  Holy crap did we have a snow day.  Really it was a snow couple of days, though only one day involved the city shutting down.  Snow is common here but not snow days.  To put it in some perspective we have lived here, on and off for 14 years.  We've had one snow day.

If you'd like to see a video of the storm, here's one.

So we got 55 cm of snow over a couple of days, and that wasn't really the issue as much as the wind which caused severe drifting.

Isabelle spent the week in Jon's classes, shadowing him.  It was exhausting.

Remember those grants Isabelle wrote back in the summer?  Well, one of them came through.

Have you ever noticed that nobody is named 'Jesus' in English?  It is common in Spanish.  I wonder why not in English, or French for that matter.
